This immaculately decorated cottage has mastered ‘modern country’ perfectly! If you are not snuggled up in front of your Charnwood stove, with your slippers resting on the cream rug, there is a beautifully laid dining area ready for afternoon tea and a slice of cake. The decor is layered with delicate neutrals and the vast windows cast a wash of natural light over the space. Ideal for a family, the centre island makes for a perfect social space where everyone can relax together whilst dinner simmers away. To the centre of the house is the delightfully curved staircase. Upstairs, the bedrooms are generous with large luxurious throws. Beyond the cottage-style windows is a beautiful green space, where in the summer months, breakfast can be enjoyed alfresco. 

Spend your days exploring picturesque Cornwall – the beaches, the coastal paths, the delightful little cafes. There really is something for everyone and this generous little cottage has thought of everything. For those that enjoy surfing, a traditional water barrel awaits for wetsuit dipping and a charcoal barbecue is ready for when you need to refuel. In the colder months, the family can huddle around the fire with a good movie. One of our favourite touches is the large freestanding bath. If you fancy a little ‘me’ time, just pour a glass of your favourite tipple and sink down into the bubbles. You really will feel the sense of seaside serenity wash over you.

Follow the woodland path down to the local beach for sandcastle-making, picnics, and, if you time the tide right, surfing – there's a surf school with all the gear. Take a jaunt over to Padstow a twenty-minute drive away and mooch about the shops. Or just hang out back at the farm for the day. Kids will love feeding the chickens and the resident pony. There are many marvellous things about this wood-panelled cottage, but its unique location at Mawgan Porth has to be the highlight. It's set right on the sand, with a private path bringing you down to the shoreline – meaning you can dip your toes in the sea within seconds of closing the door. The outdoor deck has a hot tub, where you can watch the sun go down with a glass of wine, along with a free-standing bath tub and dining area, for alfresco meals with a view of the Cornish coast. Inside, large windows usher in loads of sunlight, and a fireplace brings warmth on those cooler evenings. The unique bedrooms feature plush beds with ornate headboards, as well as one delightful four-poster bed fitted with sumptuous white curtains. Take a short drive to sample Padstow's famous seafood restaurants, admire the Bedruthan cliffs or enrol in surf school at Watergate Bay – there's something for everyone in this charming spot in North Cornwall.

The open-plan kitchen and dining room is decorated in white, with plenty of blonde wood that serves to remind you of the beach. There's a wood burner to keep you cosy on blustery days, while there are French doors that lead out onto a large decking area that can be flung open when the sun's out.

Elsewhere in the home, uncover a soothing colour palette of greens, blues and oranges that echo the breathtaking sea views and jaw-dropping sunsets that you'll witness from the west-facing terrace. It's a theme that continues through to the tranquil bedrooms including the main room's stylish Soho House bed. Spend idyllic days in the Cornish countryside when you stay at this recently converted barn, situated a twelve-minute drive from beautiful Padstow. Enjoy long walks on the South West Coast Path – the cliff tops at Park Head offer incredible views across to the sea stacks at Bedruthan Steps (a ten-minute ride away). Back at this wonderful barn – it's perfect for a family or a group of friends looking for a tranquil retreat. Inside, we were blown away by the rustic charm mixed with elegant modernism. We love the Delabole slate bathrooms, exposed stone walls and vaulted beams throughout this home. In fact, this place has been designed with socialising and entertaining in mind – it's a great space to spend quality time together. On chillier days, curl up in front of the cosy wood-burning stoves in the living room or den and settle in for an evening of board games with the family. There are four acres of grounds to explore here, including orchards and wildflower meadows. There's even an outdoor shower, so you can rinse off after visiting the beach – your lovely hosts have really thought of everything here.  Our favourite spot in the garden has to be the magical summerhouse – savour the spectacular views that stretch to the Atlantic Ocean or recline on the day bed and read a book. It's just one of the many fantastic features that make this home so very special.

We loved the relaxed living spaces that made us nostalgic for childhood holidays to the Cornish coast. It's the ideal spot to sit back with your morning coffee as you plan what to do with your day. Of course, the beach offers something completely different depending on the weather. Blow away the cobwebs on a windy walk, brave a bracing dip, or soak up the sun on the sand. As for the surfing? That's a year-round pursuit. There's no such thing as cold water, just the wrong gear. And there are plenty of local surf shops that can kit you out. Away from the beach, the town beckons with an excellent selection of seafood restaurants and cool cafes with some classic Cornish fare too. Who doesn't love a pasty? Found in the quaint Cornish village of Trevone, this home is the key to unlocking the stretch of coast between the more popular options of Newquay and Polzeath. Start off at Trevone Bay and work your way towards Harlyn Bay Beach, Treyarnon Bay and Pentire Steps Beach without driving more than twenty minutes out. Be sure to stop off at the beautiful Trevose Head Lighthouse along the way. 

Reflecting the beauty of its coastal surroundings, the inside of the home has a calm sense about it. With four bedrooms for eight guests, this coastal getaway is ideal for an extended family. With food and drink options aplenty, a day on the beach simply isn't complete without cornish ice cream in the afternoon or a good old fashioned fish and chips come dinnertime.

The Trevose Country Club will satiate your resident golfer (and also houses a spa), and there are several National Trust hotspots around, such as the Bedruthan Steps; a coastline walk you won't forget. What's more, even during bad weather, there's plenty to do. Cosy up by the novel wood burner after a country walk or throw the glass doors open and eat and drink on the patio on a warm balmy night. The open-plan living and dining space is ideal for a larger group, and the kitchen is kitted out for cooking at home and a seamless night in enjoying the warm, rustic aesthetic.

This cosy bungalow on Cornwall's northern coast is the perfect base for exploring as much or as little of this remarkable region as you please. Beautiful beaches, dramatic cliffs and stunning sunsets all await you in this charming county. Idyllic locations such as Padstow and St Ives can be reached in less than an hour, and the famed Eden Project is just a forty-five minute drive away.
 
On the other hand, Holywell Bay has one of the most beautiful beaches in the county. You’ll be pleased to know it's only a five-minute walk from your door, where alongside stunning scenery, you’ll find a gorgeous coastal path, and a handful of charming beachside cafes and eateries. Refuel on local produce at the Gull Rocks Bar & Coffee House at the beach’s entrance after an afternoon spent splashing about, and take in the stunning vistas afforded by its prime location. The Treguth Inn, hailing back to the thirteenth century also awaits just five minutes away, while several more traditional pubs and desirable restaurants can be found within a fifteen-minute drive. The choice is all yours. 

A short twenty-minute drive away is the Gannel Estuary, which separates neighbouring Crantock village from Newquay. Have a go at canoeing in the estuary, or try your hand at paddle-boarding over in Crantock. On quieter days, why not go for fish and chips followed by some ice cream in idyllic fishing villages such as Mevagissey, Mousehole or Gorran Haven, all within an hour's drive? Whatever you choose to do, you won't be short of fun.
  
Of course, such is the high-quality amenities, you don't even need to leave the house. An open living area is blessed with natural light and plenty of space, perfect for social evenings. Chill on the sofas, sit with a glass of beer on the kitchen bar or take to the circular table for dinner. On cooler nights, gather around the log burner, or venture out to the garden for a spot of stargazing by the outdoor heater.
 
On warm summer evenings, get comfy on the cushioned sofas as you watch the sunset, or take in views of Penhale, a protected area for wildlife and ecology. When the sun sets, turn on the outdoor lights, and for true indulgence, treat yourselves to a dip in the hot tub.

By the Beach

Arriving at Slates By The Shore, you might not be expecting the good-looking cottage that awaits behind the front door. You'll be struck by its swanky style, a mix of authentic stone walls and flooring with the centrepiece of a modern spiral staircase. Put your feet to good use and explore the town of Padstow and, venturing further, take to the Camel Trail, an eighteen-mile hiking (or cycling) trail that takes you through glorious coastal scenery. Back in Padstow, speedboat rides, cobbled souvenir shops, and a good old serving of fish and chips await.

After days spent surfing the Atlantic swell or lounging on the golden sands of Fistral Beach, a twelve-minute stroll from your doorstep, you'll love kicking back in this well-equipped pad. Inside, spacious rooms are stylishly furnished and blessed by heaps of natural light. We especially love the open-plan living area, primed for relaxation with a cosy lounge, fully-equipped kitchen and dining table. Here, the main event is the balcony. Step through the floor-to-ceiling French doors and onto the furnished deck for glorious coastal views and a hit of crisp sea breeze. Spend evenings out here, enjoying an alfresco feast as the sun dips below the horizon.

The house is just a seven-minute walk from the centre of Padstow and its pretty, characterful harbour. Perhaps you’ll stroll into town first thing for breakfast in one of the many cafes and restaurants, before making your way to the beach. Lower Beach is our favourite, and it’s just an eighteen-minute walk from the house. Take along your bucket and spade and make memories in this most picturesque part of the UK. 

When you make your way back to the house, sun-kissed and sandy, fire up the barbecue. Spend your evening in the garden, admiring the views of the Camel Estuary and watching the sun slowly set. The garden is the jewel in the crown of this lovely home, with comfortable seating and bi-folding doors than can be opened wide to give the living space a holiday feel.

Looking for a contemporary Cornwall retreat with a view? Then this high-tech showstopper of a home, perched just moments from sandy Mawgan Porth beach in an exclusive development fringing Newquay, should suit you to a tee.

Sunny mornings call for lazy coffees on that south-facing balcony leading off from the open concept living space to catch a glimpse of the sea. Meanwhile, little ones and furry friends can run off some energy on the lawns below, all under your watchful gaze. 

When the sea finally lures you in, spend your days exploring the awesome coastal path that leads to Newquay, Padstow and beyond (it goes right past here) or learning to surf down at the beach – it’s just 150 metres from your door. And you can easily wash down sandy surfing paraphernalia and paws with that hot après-surf shower when you head home.

Then all that’s left to do is fire up the barbecue (make sure to pick up some locally caught seafood) and spill out onto the alfresco sofa area with sundowners – the views of the surrounding valleys are magnificent. Then keep the night flowing around the firepit or head back indoors to hunker down for a cosy film night – there’s a swish cinema projector ready to roll.

Now, you can have your own Cornish romance in this charming cottage, a fifteen-minute walk from Padstow. Glorious sandy beaches surround this town, and it's known for fishing and the high-end restaurants of celebrity chefs Rick Stein and Paul Ainsworth too.

Back at this home, whip up a Cornish cream tea in the modern kitchen with its metro tiles and breakfast bar and enjoy it at one of two outdoor tables (at the front or back) – our favourite is the front garden with its lawn and drystone wall. This lovely cottage is the perfect retreat for two.
