This holiday home just south of Bude is a great spot to spend some quality time with the whole family. It’s only a short walk to the beach, where you can take surf lessons or go for a hike with your four-legged friend along the Atlantic coast. The house has got three ensuite bedrooms and a large family bathroom, but it’s the garden with the sea view that we like best. There are a small local shop and pub nearby and the town of Bude is but a short drive away.

With an enviable clifftop location on the coast of northern Cornwall, this pet-friendly beach house offers great views of the Atlantic Ocean. While the wi-fi may not always be reliable, the outdoor dining facilities, large garden and board games mean everyone will be entertained. Parts of the property date back to the sixteenth century, and although it’s been lovingly restored, the traditional charm still shines through in the wood burners, range oven and exposed beams. It’s calm and cosy, with plenty of space for everyone to spread out and find a quiet corner of their own. 

While the kids let off steam in the large shared gardens, enjoy breakfast to the sound of birdsong in the sun-trap courtyard. Set just outside the surfing hotspot of Bude, this wooden roundhouse offers the excitement of camping with all the creature comforts of home. Spend sun-kissed summer afternoons tucking into relaxed lunches on the picnic bench and treating yourself to dips in the hot tub, equipped with a metal privacy screen so you can soak in peace.

Inside, the unique roundhouse design comes to the fore, with a well-equipped kitchen gently curving around the wall, a rustic round dining table, and a double bed set beneath a shining porthole skylight. Elsewhere, the roundhouse is equipped with one further bedroom and a sleek bathroom with a vast walk-in shower.

The site is equipped with a converted horse trailer turned coffee shop so you can dose up on caffeine as the kids help with feeding the farm animals. Your hosts are blessed with over a decade's worth of local knowledge and are more than happy to share their favourite local haunts with guests, so whether you're after a local butcher to stock up for a barbecue, a bougie brunch spot, or a great local pub, they've got you covered.

The Turn of the Tide

This is one for the ramblers and the folk that love the great outdoors. The former barn has been turned into a country bolthole in the rolling landscape of Cornwall. Lace up your hiking boots and hit the South West Coastal Trail at Crackington Haven, a twelve-minute drive away. This stretch of coastline is home to secret sandy bays and stunning sea views from the tops of cliffs. 

From the windows inside, you’ve got a view of the verdant green fields and tumbling hills that make up this peaceful area. The old walls of the barn are on display in patches of exposed stonework amidst the otherwise pristine white walls. In the open-plan kitchen, dining and living room, the L-shaped sofa creates a snuggly nook for cosy evenings in. Should the weather stay fine, there’s a flower-filled private garden with a barbecue and patio dining to make the most of the Cornish sun.

This stunning roundhouse will bring your soul to life. Reconnecting with nature is inevitable in this beautiful glamping pod but done so, in luxury. Surrounded by idyllic countryside, star gaze the night away keeping warm in the confines of the private hot tub – just don’t forget the bubbly. For a little evening alfresco, the rustic picnic bench is a lovely spot to soak up the last of the daylight as you indulge in some nibbles – retreat inside as the temperature drops and you’ll feel as though you’ve been wrapped in a hug. The open-plan space creates a wonderful social atmosphere, where you can live in comfort. With large French doors in front of your bed, enjoy your morning cuppa with a view from under the duvet – or lie back and enjoy the blue sky through the porthole skylight directly above you.

There's a nearby farm shop for freshly laid eggs and ground coffee, and a street food van on-site if you don't fancy cooking. If you do crave civilisation, this place is only a short drive from some of Cornwall’s best-loved beaches and the popular seaside resort of Bude.

Your private, outdoor area is spectacular – play games on the lawn, savour alfresco lunches on the picnic bench, grill up dinner on the barbecue, set up a campfire, and (best of all) soak in the hot tub under the stars all night.  We think a glass of champagne wouldn’t go amiss in this luxury setting. When you’ve spent enough time in the tub, head inside to lie back on the sumptuous bed and look up – find yet another stargazing spot via the ceiling porthole. If you love the thought of drifting to sleep while gazing up at the stars, this dreamy cabin could be the holiday home for you. The cabin is tucked away in a lush garden in a romantic setting that will make you instantly forget any of the worries of day-to-day life. It’s a studio-style cabin with one wall entirely made of glass, blending the interior and exterior. A skylight above the bed means you’ll go to sleep each night staring straight up at the stars. 

The cabin is based just outside of Launceston in Cornwall, close to the border of Devon. It’s brilliantly located for outdoorsy adventures, whether you’re keen on surfing or prefer to explore the countryside on foot. Dartmoor National Park is twenty-seven minutes away by car, with its wealth of wonderful hikes and cycling trails. You might take a day-trip to St Isaac to paddle in the sea and eat fish and chips and ice cream at the shore – it takes forty-three minutes to drive there, and it’s well worth the trip. 

After a day of exploring Cornwall and its gems, you can look forward to sipping wine on the terrace. Perhaps you’ll cook dinner on the barbecue before enjoying a relaxing bubble bath in the beautiful copper tub. Or to take the romance to the next level, you might soak in the hot tub under the stars. It’s impossible to leave here feeling stressed out.

This delightful stone cottage is nestled in the heart of the quintessential Cornish fishing village of Boscastle. It was built in 1908, but a renovation in 2016 saw the home fitted with every modern comfort you could need. This cottage is wonderfully snug, retaining its characterful original features such as exposed beams and wooden flooring. The interior has benefitted from a creative’s touch, with quirky furnishings and bold artwork creating a modern space. The cosy sitting room is decorated in such a way that you'll want to spend hours inside wiling away the time with board games in front of the fire. We also love the bathroom with its lino floor and rustic bathtub. However, this home’s perfect location means there’s also lots of fun to be had outside of the garden – even with that sea view. Whip up a picnic in the kitchen or make a smoothie with the Nutribullet and head up to Beeny Cliff, a dramatic headland immortalised in the poem by Thomas Hardy. Or alternatively, walk into the village and watch the boats go past in Boscastle’s historic harbour, less than a fifteen-minute stroll from your front door.

Formerly a chapel, this exquisitely restored home is about as heavenly as they come. You'll find it peacefully perched on a residential street in Hayle, just a four-minute drive from the historic town centre and a five-minute drive from the beach. Spacious, light-filled and brimming with contemporary comforts, it's the perfect abode for families.

Inside, it's a timeless canvas of high ceilings and hardwood floors. Original features – including pewters, stained glass windows and, though purely decorative, an old church balcony – add bundles of charm while offering a glimpse into the building's storied past. Admire it all from the open-plan living space, snuggled up on the sofa, baking cookies in the fully-equipped kitchen or roosted at the dining table for a delicious home-cooked feast. Outside, the street-facing terrace offers an idyllic spot for sipping tea in the morning sun before a day of exploring.
 
Here, you're well-positioned to explore the gems of West Cornwall. The beautiful town of St Ives, with its surf-worthy waves and thriving art scene, is just a fifteen-minute drive away, or a few hours on foot if you fancy a scenic hike along the coast. Set in the vibrant Cornish sailing community of Fowey, alongside several Victorian buildings, this apartment is like something out of a fairytale. Designed to an incredibly high standard by your host, Alison, the interior feels very in keeping with the seaside locale without ever coming across as a cliche. There's not a deckchair stripe in sight. Instead, you're treated to sculptural driftwood lamps, moody seascape paintings, and a sophisticated palette of deep blues and grey tones that reflect the British weather more accurately than the usual sunshine yellow. If you can bear to leave the home, there are plenty of shops, restaurants and places of interest in the immediate vicinity. Fowey is a beautiful harbourside town with public events occurring throughout the year. The local community is a healthy mix of all ages who are warm and friendly and adept at making newcomers feel welcome.
