With its warm stone exterior, there's no mistaking what area of England this lovely Edwardian villa is in – it’s nestled in the popular Cotswold village of Bourton-on-the-Water. We adore the fragrant, lavender-filled south-facing garden – it's the perfect spot for a sunny afternoon barbecue followed by a lavender martini. The level lawn is ideal for garden games too. The grounds here are a real highlight – there's even a beautiful pear tree flourishing at the front.

Inside, you'll find an array of character features such as the original quarry floor tiles in the hall, exposed stone walls, beams, decorative fireplaces and stained glass windows. There's a cosy snug as well as an elegant living room, so this place is ideal for families or friends looking to spread out a little. To top it all, there's parking for three cars in a private bay behind the house – a total bonus in such a central location.

When you feel like exploring this beautiful village, you'll discover its low bridges, pretty waterways and traditional stone houses. Or head to the Cotswold Motoring Museum, which has a variety of vintage cars and a toy collection. The nearest major supermarket is an eighteen-minute walk or a four-minute drive away, and there are some tempting bakeries for tasty pastries and bread. With countryside walks on your doorstep and many Cotswolds attractions within driving distance, this is a desirable place to be – and we absolutely adore this cottage, which is smack-dab in the centre of town. Once an antique showroom, this inviting homestead is now filled with local artwork – including paintings by the host's grandfather – as well as The Cotswold Company furniture and every amenity you can think of. Snuggle up with a book in front of the wood-burner, challenge the family to a board game around the dining table or relax with a soak in the sumptuous master bathtub. The private courtyard is the perfect spot to savour a cup of tea or a cocktail in the sun. In the evenings, light the barbecue and enjoy an alfresco meal, gathering around the fire pit for toasted marshmallows when the air turns chilly.

The cottage is full of charm, and features ancient beams and an inglenook fireplace. Children will love the outdoor playroom, and the patio outside is great for summertime barbecues. The steep stairs here mean that this home won’t be suitable for everyone.

When it’s particularly warm out, sit at the bistro set in the garden with a glass of your favourite tipple and a paperback pulled from the bookcase. 

Take a nine-minute drive to Stow-on-the-Wold for its popular Farmer’s Market or stretch your legs with a ramble to Bourton-on-the-Water – it’ll take you an hour-and-a-half by foot. Wonders of Life

Dating back to the sixteenth century, this traditional stone cottage in the Cotswolds is bursting with rustic charm. Plenty of period features remain, including the inglenook fireplace now home to a wood-burning stove and the vaulted ceilings complete with ceiling beams.

However, there have been plenty of home improvements made in the past half-millennium. The beautifully arranged garden is a prime example, with the pergola and patio making it a lovely spot to catch the golden hour. Back inside, the rather grand dining-kitchen area is a modern interpretation of rural design, while we're willing to bet you'll also be thankful for the sleek bathtub after a long ramble.

The local village of Longborough has a twelfth-century church, two pubs and an opera festival that takes place in a converted barn during the summer months. Sezincote House and Garden makes for a splendid afternoon out and is only half an hour away on foot, too.



A Village Retreat

Constructed out of the traditional creamy-yellow Cotswold stone, this home is actually a recent addition to the small town of Northleach. Guests will be happy to hear that the amount of effort that has been applied to ensuring the exterior blends in with the locale has also been made with fitting out the interior. All throughout, a thoroughly modern colour palette of muted greys and whites dominate, with flourishes of personality coming from the chandelier-esque light fixture in the dining room and abstract artwork hanging on the wall. Outside, there's a large garden with a charcoal barbecue and seating on the patio where you can make the most of summer afternoons. Given the prime location within the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, there are plenty of hiking routes and rural attractions nearby, including Lodge Park and Sherborne Park Estate only seven minutes' drive away. Even closer, there's a pub, cafe and even a wine cellar just a ten-minute stroll away.

In terms of style, it's all stone floors, oak beams and classic country furnishings. The huge wall of windows floods the main living room with light, with its feature log burner, grand piano and galleried landing taking centre stage. There's a garden room, a large kitchen-diner and, if the youngsters would rather watch a film separately, there's a cosy snug. Bedrooms are supremely comfortable, and you'll have enough bathrooms to banish those morning queues for the shower. If it's a nice day (and why wouldn't it be?) you can step out onto the home's beautiful terrace for breakfast overlooking the garden – a safe and enclosed space for the children to play. Explore the farm, owned by the same family for 220 years, and you may meet some of their rare breed sheep, cattle, hens and pet donkeys. Wildlife-friendly, the farm is also home to rare native flora and fauna, and the owners are happy to sell you their honey, eggs, lamb and beautiful woven blankets produced from sheep on the farm. All this and it's just a twenty-minute drive to Cheltenham in one direction and to Stow-on-the-Wold in the other.
