If you fancy waking up to the sound of blackbirds singing in the trees, then this home is for you. This picture-perfect cottage is located in an idyllic corner of the Cotswolds and offers the perfect countryside escape for a large group looking for some fresh air and good times. It dates back to the 1800s, and you'll find plenty of traditional touches reminding you of the building's long history, from the antique dining table and original flagstones to the wooden beams – remember to watch your head. The interior is cosy yet spacious, with room for all your guests to find some peace and quiet, and the outdoor space is equally brilliant. The garden is filled with mature trees and grassy lawns, all enclosed by an ivy-covered drystone wall, making it the ideal spot to enjoy a family barbecue on balmy summer evenings. There are several lovely walks and cycling trails in the area, which take you through the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Stow-on-the-Wold is just a seven-mile drive away, and Sudeley Castle is five miles away, so you're within easy reach of some of the area's most charming attractions.

Believe it or not, this home actually used to be a barn. There are no animals left, just lots of character and charm. Set in the Cotswolds, in between Stow and Cheltenham, it's part of a larger estate complete with a children's playground and a wonderful on-site pantry that serves excellent coffee and food. A mix of eye-catching antique pieces and quirky art installations, it opens up to a bright, welcoming courtyard that’s perfect for both relaxing and socialising. We also loved the private pool (yes, you read that right), where you can enjoy magnificent views of the surrounding greenery and grassland.

Just outside the charming village of Temple Guiting, you’re ideally located to explore all that the Cotswolds have to offer. You’ll be surrounded by excellent walking and cycling trails, and many of the area’s most beautiful towns and villages are just a short drive away. Burton-on-the-Water, for example, is a mere fifteen-minute drive away and is known for its patchwork of attractive bridges and charming shops. It’s always worth a visit.

This home is something else, so where do we even begin? Set between Stow and Cheltenham, it’s nestled to the edge of a wooded Cotswolds hamlet with beautiful views of surrounding greenery and grassland. Part of an estate (with a wonderful on-site pantry/cafe that serves excellent coffee), you have access to tennis courts, tranquil gardens, and a children's playground. Even though it’s an old historic property (antique lovers rejoice), it also has plenty of modern comforts like a hot tub, games room, and a secret cinema. Full of charm, it’s a characterful home that’s just waiting to be explored.

Set in Ford, an attractive hamlet along the banks of the River Windrush, this romantic cottage offers the highest levels of charm and comfort for your Cotswolds escape. It’s hidden away within the grounds of the host’s own home, but offers complete privacy. There’s a small but well-equipped galley kitchen with a Nespresso machine and milk frother for a little luxury morning coffee. But our favourite bit is the four-poster, king-size bed which guarantees a luxurious night’s sleep. just what you need after a day tackling some of the best hiking routes in the Cotswolds. The Cotswolds Way runs right by the cottage and walks around Sudeley Castle are just a few miles away.

This beautiful home sits on the Sudeley Castle estate and was the former laundry for the castle. Now, it’s a stunning home, refurbished in keeping with the age of the building – you can look forward to mullioned windows, original fireplaces, and high ceilings. The kitchen and dining areas are perfect for celebrations, with plenty of room for a large group. Outside, you can soak in the hot tub while admiring countryside views, then dine alfresco. Positioned on the outskirts of historic Winchcombe, you'll benefit from incredible views of the village as well as easy access to plenty of cafes, shops and restaurants – this is an excellent base from which to explore the Cotswold's outstanding natural beauty. Inside the cottage, a cosy wood-burning stove awaits – perfect for cold nights in – especially after a day spent walking through this idyllic scenery. The country-chic kitchen, dining table for eight and wonderful garden with expansive views are just the icing on the cake. If you'd like a change from the picture-postcard villages, then the charming town of Cheltenham is just eight miles away, while the beautiful cities of Oxford and Bath are a little over an hour's drive.

A Cozy Retreat

With beautiful views across the Cotswolds, this former stable makes the perfect setting for a refreshing rural retreat. There is also a private hot tub, a sun terrace and plenty of space to stretch out and socialise. Inside, the main bedroom comes with an en-suite bathroom, while the third bedroom has bunk beds – perfect for kids. Private parking is available for two cars and you’ll find lots to explore in the surroundings. From here, it’’s just a twenty-minute drive to both Cheltenham and Stow-on-the-Wold.

Dating back to the 17th century, this cottage is perfect for those looking for a slice of idyllic living. Based in the village of Stanton, you've got the Cotswolds on your doorstep here, ideal for intrepid explorers. At home, you'll find historic features alongside modern touches – we were particularly fond of the original inglenook fireplace and the kitchen's skylight. After a hike, you'll want to relax in the freestanding bathtub before enjoying a barbecue out in the garden. Alternatively, head to the nearby pub or cook up a roast in the well-equipped kitchen.

A Cotswold Delight

If your trip to the Cotswolds needs a bit of decadence, then visiting Sudeley Castle should be a top priority. Seeing as Sudeley Castle Cottage is right next door, visiting the beautiful castle grounds will be easy, and thanks to your hosts, you'll also get free admission to the castle and its beautiful gardens. Staying in this fairytale cottage offers you a taste of the high life and a gorgeous view of the green rolling hills and unspoiled landscapes. The historical centre of Winchcombe is only a short fifteen-minute walk away as well, which should set you up for at least a few days of sightseeing – there's so much to discover, from chocolate-box buildings to cute-as-button tea rooms. The home itself is furnished with antiques, original paintings, high-quality soft furnishings, and a lovely collection of books chosen by Lady Ashcroft herself – and you'll love curling up with one of them on the comfy armchairs – we especially love the rustic fireplace that keeps things ultra-cosy. Ideal for large groups, this country-style house offers the usual mod-cons for a comfortable stay, with a sociable kitchen-come-diner for convivial meals together, and homely bedrooms with heaps of Cotswolds charm, so you can wake up feeling fresh and ready for a  morning walk around the scenic country estate.

Oozing in medieval character with its sixteenth-century facade and original features throughout, Mercia hides a little secret behind its quirky front. You wouldn't expect it, yet a light-filled and contemporary entertaining space features at the back, with fabulous views of the Isbourne Valley and Sudeley Hill. It opens up to a large patio with seating and a barbecue, followed by a long sloping garden, so you can continue admiring the vistas while something nice is grilling and children play on the lawn. 

There are plenty of cosy spaces to retire to after a day of Cotswold exploration – from the sitting room with a charming inglenook fireplace to an inviting roll-top bathtub in the master suite. While you may want to explore the wider area, you could leave your car parked for the duration of your stay, as you're just a few minutes’ walk from award-winning pubs and restaurants, boutiques and delis; if you're after some history and culture, Sudeley Castle is nearby, while the Cotswold Way awaits walkers and nature lovers.

How’s a 15th-century castle that once housed King Charles I and Lady Jane Grey (to name a few) sound for a neighbour? It’s just footsteps away from this charming Cotswolds cottage –⁠ originally part of a paper mill on the vast estate. It’s worth noting there’s only one family bathroom here. And if we were being picky, the outside shared courtyard isn’t the most inspiring space. But with five award-winning gardens and a castle to explore (you’ll have complimentary access), we don’t think you’ll mind. After a little more bustle? The quintessential Cotswolds town of Winchcombe, with its traditional inns and tearooms, is an easy stroll away.

Only a mile from Winchcombe and Sudeley Castle, this pocket-sized hideaway is a perfect fit for two. We love how cosy and bright the living space is. Whether you're preparing breakfast in the mint green kitchenette, unwinding with a glass of wine on the comfy sofa or snuggling up in the sumptuous bed adorned with a William Morris duvet, you'll feel right at home here. And the views aren't too shabby, either. In the morning, savour a cup of tea and listen to the birdsong on the private patio, overlooking the tree-lined paddock. Evenings call for charcoal barbecues as the sun goes down, followed by glasses of wine under the stars. 

Ramblers will love this rural spot. Public footpaths lead through the rolling countryside towards the Cotswold Way and along the River Isbourne, and with pubs and restaurants in Winchcombe, you'll have everything you need just a stone's throw away. If it's the magic of the Cotswolds you're after, take an afternoon drive to Bourton-on-the-Water – it's twenty-five minutes away.

Nestled in the grounds of a 15th-century castle, and fringing the charming village of Winchcombe, this dog-friendly cottage is one-of-a-kind. Make sure to discover the fascinating history of the estate, which you’ll have complimentary access to. Once home to King Charles I and his nephew, Prince Rupert, the castle has impressive royal connections. It’s worth noting that the downstairs living space is compact and will feel particularly cosy if you have two dogs in tow. But there’s a decked terrace to spill out onto that you’ll share with another two cottages. Location-wise, Winchcombe, with traditional inns, tearooms and honey stone houses aplenty is just a short amble away.

Nestled into the Sudeley Castle Estate, fringing the charming village of Winchcombe, you'll find this Cotswold stone 18th Century farmhouse. Spread out over three floors, with a separate annex to spill into, this home is the perfect country escape for an extended family or group of friends. Climb the flight of stairs to discover luxurious bedrooms to sleep all fourteen of you, with crisp, white linens and many with en-suites. Back downstairs, the layout is set up for easy socialising with a spacious kitchen made for action and two dining spaces. But there are also cosy nooks to retreat to, with a separate playroom and snug complete with a crackling fire.  Outside, kids and furry friends alike can roam free on the immaculate lawns, all under the watchful gaze of the grown-ups from the raised deck terrace as you fire up the barbecue. And when it's time to get out and about, you're right on the edge of Winchcombe, with restaurants, shops, and bars just a stroll away, as well as easy access to the area's many breathtaking walking trails. Or call in on your neighbourhoods at Sudeley Castle (ten minutes on foot) – guests have complimentary entrance during the open season, don't you know.

The Crown & Chandelier

Set within the grounds of a 15th-century castle and within walking distance of the Cotswold's town of Winchcombe, the setting of this dog-friendly cottage is a knockout. Inside, the traditional interiors are befitting of this period home, and the wooden deck outside is a nice touch for evening drinks. Though it's worth noting, it's shared with the two neighbouring cottages, so it isn't the most private of spaces. Ready to stretch your legs? The castle and gardens, which you'll have complimentary access to, will keep you busy. Or mosey into charming Winchcombe with it's local inn – just 200 metres from your door.

The Old Forge

Once the hayloft to one of the grandest homes in the Winchcombe area, this gorgeous barn conversion now presents a luxurious property in its own right. With characteristics from the 1880s, original features contrast beautifully with the high-standard furnishings and modern designs seen throughout the home. 

Upon entering the barn, you'll step straight into the stylish open-plan kitchen-dining area and living room, with exposed beams and characterful stone walls. We particularly love the lime green velvet sofa, which adds a tasteful pop of contemporary personality to the otherwise countryside design aesthetic. Across the rest of the home, you'll find soothing earthy tones and soft fabrics and furnishings that tempt those much-needed relaxation moments. 

When the weather is kind, enjoy alfresco meals on the patio terrace or a refreshing glass of wine in the sunshine while the kids play on the wooden swing set and slide in the courtyard. 

In prime position for exploring the historic town of Winchcombe and the north Cotswolds, enjoy the famously good walking in the area (preferably on foot) or take road trips out in the car to the surrounding Cotswolds villages – all of which are brimming with quintessential English countryside charm and scenary.

Situated in the Cotswold village of Lower Slaughter, just off a road once named Britain’s most romantic street, this home is perfect for a couples retreat. Filled to the brim with original features, you’ll find everything you need for a relaxing stay here. Two bathrooms for two guests is a bonus for us, and we love the added touches of luxury such as the freestanding bath, cosy fireplace and outdoor firepit. With the Cotswold towns of Stow-On-The-Wold, Bourton-On-The-Water and Burford nearby, you’ll never be lost for things to do. 

Tippin' Cottage

A rural idyll set on a small, family-run farm, this place oozes charm. A converted stone barn packed with character, it's the ideal place if you're looking for a country bolthole for a large group. In terms of style, it's all stone floors, oak beams and classic country furnishings. The huge wall of windows floods the main living room with light, with its feature log burner, grand piano and galleried landing taking centre stage. There's a garden room, a large kitchen-diner and, if the youngsters would rather watch a film separately, there's a cosy snug. Bedrooms are supremely comfortable, and you'll have enough bathrooms to banish those morning queues for the shower. If it's a nice day (and why wouldn't it be?) you can step out onto the home's beautiful terrace for breakfast overlooking the garden – a safe and enclosed space for the children to play. Explore the farm, owned by the same family for 220 years, and you may meet some of their rare breed sheep, cattle, hens and pet donkeys. Wildlife-friendly, the farm is also home to rare native flora and fauna, and the owners are happy to sell you their honey, eggs, lamb and beautiful woven blankets produced from sheep on the farm. All this and it's just a twenty-minute drive to Cheltenham in one direction and to Stow-on-the-Wold in the other. 

The Cotswold Grace

Put your out of office on and disconnect entirely at this cute little shepherd's hut near Winchcombe. With plenty of room for two, it sits in a quiet field with nothing but birdsong and the occasional whistle of a steam train in the distance. Tucked away inside its own private decked area, this little home has beautiful views and a big, open sky for stargazing at night. If you're here to unwind (and were know you are) there's nothing better than the wood-fired hot tub that awaits you. Screened for privacy, it's amazing how you never get tired of soaking in the great outdoors. Inside, there's an open-plan space with your comfy bed, sitting area and surprisingly well-equipped kitchen, plus a door through to an en-suite shower room. If you've never stayed in a shepherd's hut before, you'll be amazed at how much you can fit into the space – and how cosy it all feels. There's no roughing it here, thanks to a king-size bed, central heating to keep you toasty whatever the weather and two easy chairs for reading in. There's even Wifi and a TV. If you can drag yourself away, the market town of Winchcombe is a ten-minute drive in one direction, the village of Broadway in the other. The Cotswold Way is on your doorstep and the National Trust site for Hailes Abbey is an easy walk away. There are country pubs to visit, farm shops to peruse and much more, all within a fifteen-minute drive.

Looking for a dog-friendly Cotswold’s bolthole with heritage? This period cottage, set within the grounds of a 15th-century castle and gardens once favoured by Queen Elizabeth I and King Charles I, should do nicely. Better still, you’ll be able to uncover the fascinating history with free entry to the estate. Ready for a change of scene? The bustle of Winchcombe, with its traditional inns and tearooms, is just a short stroll away. One of the largest holiday cottages on the estate, the open-plan living area leads out onto a private courtyard overlooking the River Isbourne. Perfect for morning coffees and evening tipples.

Queen Mary

This Grade II listed Cotswold stone cottage is tucked away in the village of Upper Slaughter. From here, you can easily explore charming Cotswolds villages including nearby Bourton-on-the-Water and Stow-on-the-Wold – make sure you bring a car. The cottage is full of charm, and features ancient beams and an inglenook fireplace. Children will love the outdoor playroom, and the patio outside is great for summertime barbecues. The steep stairs here mean that this home won’t be suitable for everyone.

Once an antique showroom, this inviting homestead is now filled with local artwork – including paintings by the host's grandfather – as well as The Cotswold Company furniture and every amenity you can think of. Snuggle up with a book in front of the wood-burner, challenge the family to a board game around the dining table or relax with a soak in the sumptuous master bathtub. The private courtyard is the perfect spot to savour a cup of tea or a cocktail in the sun. In the evenings, light the barbecue and enjoy an alfresco meal, gathering around the fire pit for toasted marshmallows when the air turns chilly.
