The views over the Amalfi Coast from this home’s infinity pool and whirlpool are incredible. There are a variety of terraces for relaxing and alfresco dining, while inside this place, dating from the 15th century, there’s a traditional feel with beams and handmade tiles. There's an open fire in the living room for cooler evenings and all of the bedrooms are en-suite (two also have a private terrace). Situated in the oldest part of Amalfi, it’s just a short walk down the steps to the centre of the town or you can take one of two public lifts.

Now, this is what we call a view. Perched above the Gulf of Salerno, this villa offers breathtaking scenery everywhere you look. Our favourite spot is the terrace, where a glass of wine complements the panoramas perfectly. There's also a private Jacuzzi that makes soaking under the stars a real treat. The interior design is simple but chic, though the main bedroom doesn't feel particularly private. And, while the kitchen is on the smaller side, you'll only be a five-minute walk from the eateries in Amalfi. That's pretty hard to beat.

This gorgeous villa is perched on the top floor of a 450-year-old mill. The mill has been carefully renovated over the years, but the home still packs in an impressive level of historic charm.

You’ll start to fall in love with this ivy-clad beauty as soon as you approach. It’s situated on the coastal road that connects Ravello and Amalfi, benefitting from the beautiful beaches of Amalfi and the artistic vibe of Ravello. It takes nine minutes to drive into Ravello, where you’ll find the lush terraced gardens the town is known for. The drive to Amalfi takes eleven minutes, so you can be sipping a chilled glass of wine while taking in the coastal view in no time. 

The main focal point of the villa is the huge terrace. Two of the three bedrooms lead directly onto it, so you might wake up to sunshine on your pillow. The terrace looks out over the rugged landscape, in a fantastical setting. Lying out on the sun loungers, you’ll feel a million miles away from your normal life. 

After breakfast on the terrace and a morning spent soaking up the sun, why not drive eight minutes to the beach at Atrani? Splash in the cool, clear sea before grabbing lunch at a nearby trattoria.

A car is not essential here either – guests can explore the area on foot (this means climbing 300 steps down to the main piazza) or take the public lift. Located only 3 kilometres from Amalfi town and around 800 metres from Il Duoglio Beach, this villa suits a family or group of friends seeking a sun-soaked holiday. The outside space was our favourite feature – we couldn’t get enough of the Tyrrhenian Sea views from the hot tub and the seating area. Inside, two bedrooms boast balcony access, and the third has its own terrace. Just so you know, you’ll need to descend 90 steps to reach the home.

Close enough to sights, bars and restaurants, it's made for those wanting to soak up all Italy has to offer. Though looking at the terrace, it's also made for sun worshippers. Dine alfresco and hot tub in a Mediterranean summer haze with a view of the Gardens of the Princess of Piedmont. Because of how traditional the home is, the rustic decor might not be to everyone's taste, but it is comfortable.

Nestled within a lemon orchard, this stunning villa is practically hanging off the side of the Amalfi Coast. On the villa’s stepped terraces, the citrus scent of fresh lemons combines with sea salt as you enjoy uninterrupted views over the azure Tyrrhenian Sea. Walkways shaded by twisting grapevines, magenta bougainvillaea and wisteria bursting in purple clouds give way to panoramic views. You’ll find endless secluded spots for dining outdoors, or lounging in the sun. Inside, we were really taken by the hand-painted tiles in every room, bursting with blues, yellows and greens, and the hand-painted details like the decal in the shower, that feel distinctly Amalfi. Rather than facing the TV, the living room’s sofa points directly at the French windows and that incredible sea view and both main bedrooms have their own French windows for a view all to yourself. From the villa, it’s a short walk to the beach at the bottom of Maiori. Here, you can join the coastal walking path that links all the quintessentially Amalfi Coast villages. Or, head out in the car to the town of Amalfi, a fifteen-minute drive away.

If you're seeking out some of the Amalfi Coast's best nature spots, make sure you add a hike on the 'Path of the Gods' to your itinerary, considered by many to be the best hiking trail in the area thanks to sweeping mountain views of the Mediterranean.

With an absolutely breathtaking view of the Tyrrhenian Sea, this ancient villa couldn’t really be more of a complete package if it tried. Not only does waking up to the panoramic horizon inspire a great sense of relaxation, but the villa itself is pretty with its curving arches and many textures. 

Given its age, the home has seen its share of modernisation, but it has always been done in the most loving and sympathetic way to retain the original charm, and that character is certainly still visible. A five-minute stroll from the sands of Acqua Chiara, this villa centres around outdoor living with its uninterrupted sea views and multi-level terraces. While there are about ninety steps from the parking area to this home, and a couple of the bedrooms are dark, it's a small price to pay for the plunge pool, hot tub, and leafy seating spots. Maiori sits within walking distance, boasting beachside restaurants, bars, and a port-facing gelateria. Hiking opportunities and scenic drives await along the Amalfi Coast.

The Island Fairy

Located in the Amalfi Coast's oldest village, this hillside home offers sweeping sea views. The vine-covered terrace extends a special invitation for alfresco dinners. Moreover, the hydromassage hot tub is a fantastic bonus, but it only seats four guests. Though Atrani puts the nearest beach eight kilometres away, Scala's main square restaurants, shops, and public transport links are within a twenty-minute walking distance. That said, this home is fifty steps down from the street level, which isn't practical for everyone.

Go from your bedroom into the garden in moments as you escape through the doors – if you’re on the first floor, you’ll have an entire balcony to yourself and we recommend waking up before dawn, at least once, so you can watch the sunset from up there. Location-wise, you’re less than a kilometre from Maiori, which boasts the biggest stretch of sand on the Amalfi Coast.

The traditional interiors are charming and cosy, and we loved the nonna-style kitchen for rustling up authentic Italian dishes, enjoyed together in the internal courtyard. Thanks to the flexible sleeping arrangements, this place is ideal for any family or friends travelling together. Location-wise, Fornillo Beach is within walking distance, and you’re not far from Positano's laid-back restaurants and independent shops.

Amalfi Dream

Discover this home and you’re in for a treat – one which is delightfully quiet and boasts panoramic views across the Amalfi coast. Sounds pretty perfect, doesn’t it? Step inside, and you’ll find interiors that are vibrant and vintage in style. With a traditional antique flair, this villa is home to cosy seating spaces, quaint bedrooms, and is flooded with sunlight which reflects off the white domed ceilings. Our favourite spot here is the outdoor space. No matter where you are in the villa, you’ll find that the sun-drenched terraces are never more than a few steps away. As the sun rises, stroll out to feel the fresh coastal air on your face and the warmth of the Italian sunshine on your skin. This will soon become your little piece of paradise, somewhere you can easily spend your days taking in the views from your sun lounger. As the evening rolls around, you may fancy sampling one of the many local restaurants on your doorstep, after all, nothing beats traditional Italian cuisine. On arriving home, pour yourself a large glass of local wine and enjoy the sun setting over the horizon. 

After a refreshing night's sleep, draw back your drapes and pack your beach bag for a day at the seaside, where you can sink your toes into the sand and enjoy a refreshing dip in the water. Although you’re located in a very quiet spot, you’re central to all the local delights Praiano has to offer.

If you’re looking for dream-like views, this villa with its wonderful vistas of the bay of Positano really delivers – enjoy them from the pergola, garden or hot tub – the perfect spot to watch the sunset. The bedrooms all have a beautiful seascape to admire too from their windows or balconies. When you’re ready to step out of the villa and explore – there’s Praiano, with its bars, shops and restaurants just a stroll away, while there’s a rocky beach within a ten-minute drive.

Cobalt Daydream

There's something rather magical about the view from this apartment nestled within a private park in Positano – ruggedly beautiful cliffsides peppered with dwellings part to reveal a burst of gloriously blue Tyrrhenian Sea and the uninterrupted skyline beyond. It makes for a charming backdrop while you soak up the sunshine or enjoy alfresco meals on the terrace.

Although the apartment itself lies on the smaller side of things, we're quite fond of the bright and contemporary design, particularly the sleek white galley kitchen and the fetching patterned tiling underfoot in the bedrooms. It's a home that's been owned by the same family for more than three decades, but you can certainly tell that it's received plenty of attention in recent years.

The local town of Positano itself isn't large, so most of the attractions are easily reachable on foot, including the golden sands of Spiaggia Grande Positano only 400 metres from the front door. In the wider area, those fond of a hike will appreciate the hilly terrain and walking routes found throughout the Amalfi Coast.

Simply Unforgettable

This villa caught our eye for its impressive cliffside location, overlooking the Amalfi Coast. Built on three levels, there’s an independent tower on the roof terrace that houses two of the bedrooms, a bathroom and a private balcony. While the tower is more simply furnished than the main house, it gives those staying there privacy. Breakfast is included here for your entire stay, so you can enjoy a leisurely start to the day before relaxing by the pool or sightseeing. And with the popular towns of Positano and Amalfi within easy driving distance, there’s lots to see and do.

Neptune's Hollow

A stay on the Amalfi Coast wouldn’t be complete without a view, and this one won’t disappoint. Sitting on the edge of Praiano’s cliffs, you can enjoy the vistas from every vantage point. It’s not surprising that with a cliffside location, you’ll need to climb some steps – there are 160 between the parking area and 240 down to the sea. And while the interiors are on the more basic side, the outside space is where you’ll want to settle, with a pool, a lounge and an alfresco dining area. And when you're ready for sand, Marina di Praia can be reached on foot, by car or by public bus.

A Paradise on the Hill

How about waking up every morning of your holiday on the sun-soaked Amalfi Coast to the vast expanse of blue that is the Tyrrhenian Sea blending seamlessly with the periwinkle hue of the sky above it? Spending your days lounging on the coastline's classically glamorous beaches, where the hardest decision is which of the authentic trattorias to try for lunch today. And when evening rolls around? Slipping into something elegant for a pre-dinner Aperol Spritz on the balcony as the sun dips below the horizon, casting everything in a deep golden light that is unmistakably Italian. Then ambling into the picturesque town of Praiano for a dinner of freshly made pasta in unctuous sauces, freshly grilled fish and vegetables, or mouth-watering meat dishes. Sound good? Well, if it does, then this timeless holiday villa compiling two separate self-contained apartments within it might just be the perfect place to make those dreams a reality. 

Recently renovated to an exceptionally high standard without compromising any of its original charm, this home enjoys a privileged location in the hills overlooking Praiano – just above the famous San Genarro Church and offering panoramic vistas that take in both Positano and the island of Capri bobbing in the distance. 

The home itself is understated in the best possible way. Devoid of any over-the-top or flashy fixtures and fittings, it exudes an easy charm that's perfectly in keeping with its surroundings and the archetypal aesthetics of this part of Italy. Think terracotta tiles, majolica bathrooms, exposed stone and wood beam detailing, and expert placement of fine antiques alongside simpler modern pieces that fulfil a function, and ornate wrought iron balustrades. 

The first of the two apartments, sleeping up to four people in the double bed and on the sofabed in the living area, a fully-equipped kitchen with a spellbinding sea view, and two bathrooms (one en-suite and one separate). The second of the two, accessible only via external stairs, comprises a slightly larger kitchen – again with sea view – a living room, two double bedrooms and bathrooms.

The thing that really sets this home apart though, is that mesmerising view. Open your eyes each morning and be greeted by a sight that is sure to stay with you forever as the soft sounds of waves hitting the rocks below provide an atmospheric soundtrack.
