This villa is situated 850 metres from the pebbly beach of Marina del Cantone on the beautiful Amalfi Coast. You’ll find restaurants nearby too, while the town of Nerano is 1 kilometre from this home. A little further afield, Sorrento is 9 kilometres and Amalfi is 38 kilometres away. Or spend your days relaxing in the private swimming pool with its hydro massage jets – we love the sea views from here. You can enjoy the Mediterranean Sea vistas from the upstairs bedrooms too. There’s a pizza oven as well, for authentic pizzas, if you don’t feel like eating out.

With far-reaching views of the Bay of Nerano and the Amalfi Coast, it’s not hard to see why this home made it into our collection. Spread across three levels, there’s plenty of space for a large family or group of friends to spread out and enjoy some private time here. We don’t believe in waking up early on holiday - give us a lie in and breakfast in bed any day. But we might just make an exception at The Ocean Fern. The sight of the sun rising over the glittering blue seas of the Italian coastline is something everyone should experience at least once, and it’s even better if you’re close enough to hear the gentle lapping of the waves on the pebble beach below you. The interiors are a little basic for our liking, but it's modern and there's a dedicated workspace. Plus, the freestanding tub is the perfect place to relax after busy days spent travelling.

Perched on a hill overlooking the Bay of Naples, this home is truly lovely. Spread over three floors, with a living room, kitchen, bedrooms and at least one bathroom on each floor, it’s an ideal base for a few families to share. Everyone can enjoy their own space and still gather together easily. 

We love the outside space here, whether it’s the sunny private swimming pool and the sun loungers alongside it, or the balconies. You can prepare your breakfast and morning coffee and take it outside to enjoy in the sunshine, all the while drinking in those marvellous views. You can always find a spot in the shade too, ideal for the afternoon when the Italian sun is beating down on the tiles.

Inside, you can enjoy the view from the living rooms and kitchens too. Windows are a big part of the traditional decor here, so if you need to take a break from the sun you won’t miss out. The bedrooms are elegant and pretty, with something to love about each room. Will you go for the four-poster bed and make the most of having your own piano? Best of all, the outside space is wonderful. The terrace has an outdoor kitchen and a barbecue with glorious views. If you’re anything like us, you’ll want to spend all your time out here. When you’re not cooking or dining, you can stretch out on a sofa and drink in the view as you top up your tan. Children will love the free-standing swimming pool, too. 

It takes around ten minutes to stroll to Sant’Agata sui Due Golfi, where you can shop and dine out. Slightly further afield but still within easy reach is Massa Lubrense, a pretty town known for its pastel-coloured houses perched on cliffs. Stroll around the harbour to admire the boats while tucking into gelato. Sorrento and all of its beauty and style are a twenty-minute drive away. There’s something for everyone here.

If you prefer to relax at home, there’s a small terrace with a table and chairs. Inside, we love the colourful interiors, especially the cactus-themed en-suite. This place would suit a family as the single bedroom is off the main bedroom and also at full capacity, two guests will be sleeping on the sofa bed. Otherwise, this is an ideal apartment for your Italian escape.

Everyone will adore the plunge pool (though it's only open seasonally), while the panoramic seating areas are perfect for sundowners. The interiors may be a bit dated, but this home has plenty of space inside and out for coastal relaxation.

Taking inspiration from Sorrento's nearby harbour and rocky beach, the design of this second-floor apartment is as bright and cheery as the surrounding neighbourhood. We adore the quirky touches here, too – our favourite is the stone wall in the shower, which uses the rocky facade of the mountain.

Location-wise, you can't do much better. Beaches, eateries and shops are all just steps away. Take a stroll along the postcard-pretty marina in the mornings, followed by lunch at a waterfront restaurant. Do some sightseeing in the historic centre in the afternoons, including a wander around Piazza Tasso and a stop off at the Cattedrale dei Santi Filippo e Giacomo. A former fishing village, this charming locale is now known for its lemon trees – it’s an idyllic setting for a memorable family holiday. 

Wake up to warm Sorrento sunshine streaming onto your pillow, and step straight outside onto the terrace. Drink in the glorious views of the coast and the island of Capri, which serves as a stunning backdrop. Your days here can be spent revelling in the sunny weather, dozing beneath a blue sky, and dining alfresco. Children will love the play area, while grown-ups will enjoy sipping Italian wine on the terrace as the sun is setting. 

When the sun is scorching, you need only stroll down the staircase to reach the beach. Paddle in the shallows, search for seashells and admire the boats sailing by in the distance. However you spend your time here, you’ll be thrilled to have such a pretty place to call home.

In charming Sant’Agnello, this apartment makes a great base for those keen to experience the quieter side of Sorrento. The atmosphere here is more laid-back, yet you'll still find plenty of restaurants within easy reach. Sorrento's beaches and town square are also just a twenty-minute stroll away. Back home, rest your feet in the breezy living area or snuggle up in the two comfortable bedrooms. We're also big fans of the private balcony. It's small, but it works well for sundowners – and you'll even have a slight view of the sea and Mount Vesuvius.

Sant'Agnello Azure

This minimalist flat in Sorrento is ideal for a couple or young family looking for somewhere quiet to return to after a day on the coast. You'll be exploring the many great dining options in town as there's no kitchen or dining table here, though the small terrace is ideal for a post-dinner nightcap. It's a studio, so there's not much privacy if you're travelling with a third guest – especially as the bathtub is in the living area. While it's not the most inspiring of locations, you're not too far out from the centre of Sorrento, and you're well-positioned to explore the rest of the peninsula.

This home boasts truly breathtaking views of the Amalfi Coast. It’s a short drive from Sorrento, with a path that leads directly from the villa to the village of Sant’Elia, through a beautiful valley. You’ll have everything you might need for a relaxing stay here, with a hot tub, private outdoor heated pool, and an alfresco dining space – your host can arrange for a chef to prepare Italian feasts. There’s also exercise equipment, should you fancy a work out – I think we'd prefer to unwind on a sun lounger, though.
