When you think of Positano, you imagine the incredible views. You may have seen the Instagram posts about everyone trying to find the perfect view for sunset. Well, they're wasting their time – the best view in the city comes from the gorgeous terrace of your villa. But unlike the other popular spots, this view is reserved solely for you. 

Whether you're enjoying your morning coffee on the dining table or lounging on the sun beds, you're perfectly placed to admire the colourful houses and blue stretch of the sea. Of course, the best views are when the orange hues of sunset blend into the deep blue shades of the water. 

If you wander inside the villa, you'll find whitewashed tones and a neutral colour palette. Splashes of bright art is dotted around the villa, lacing the interior with a cheery, upbeat vibe.

When you fancy stretching your legs, you're only three minutes away from the beach. Small and cosy, it's an idyllic spot to lay your towel and catch some gentle rays of the sun. 

Please do note - to access the villa it is necessary to climb approximately 80 steps, however for a home like this it's certainly worth it.

The bedrooms are comfortable and cheery and the brightly coloured bathrooms are sure to put a pep in your step in the mornings. 

When you’re ready to explore, Positano Beach is just a short walk from your doorstep and you’re within touching distance of restaurants, bars and independent shops. After a slap-up seafood dinner by the water, return to your abode to watch the sky swirl in pinks and purples as you sip an Aperol spritz.

Positano is one of the most beautiful towns to be found along the Amalfi Coast and if you don't believe us, stepping out onto the balcony of this hillside home and gazing out at the gorgeous view of the locale below and the Tyrrhenian Sea stretching on into the distance will change your mind.

As well as this impressive outdoor space, you might just find that you're charmed by the living quarters as well. There's something about the whitewashed walls and patterned tiling that's instantly bright and welcoming, as is the addition of a few pieces of nautically-inspired artwork and quirky decorative items. The kitchen might not be the largest, but there's enough space for whipping up modest meals and the coastal view out through the window will please those on cooking duties.

When it comes to making some holiday memories, both Grande and Fornillo beaches are 650 metres from the home, and there's a good selection of restaurants even closer. In the wider area, you'll find mountains to hike along with some truly breathtaking views to act as a reward.

This traditional apartment doesn’t have much of a socialising space, with the main communal area being the relatively compact kitchen. Still, both bedrooms are spacious, light-filled, and offer direct access to the balcony. And what it lacks in size and shared space inside, it makes up for with sea views across the Amalfi Coast when you step outdoors. You’ll need to be relatively fit to climb around fifty stairs to reach the apartment from the narrow alleyway below, but the vistas are worth it.

It's worth bearing in mind that the jacuzzi only holds four guests at a time, however, with four spaces around the alfresco dining area – the group can spread out across different parts of the balcony to enjoy the views at the same time. The open-plan main living area is equally as sociable and provides the perfect set-up for cooking up an Italian feast in the kitchen.

There's something rather magical about the view from this apartment nestled within a private park in Positano – ruggedly beautiful cliffsides peppered with dwellings part to reveal a burst of gloriously blue Tyrrhenian Sea and the uninterrupted skyline beyond. It makes for a charming backdrop while you soak up the sunshine or enjoy alfresco meals on the terrace.

Although the apartment itself lies on the smaller side of things, we're quite fond of the bright and contemporary design, particularly the sleek white galley kitchen and the fetching patterned tiling underfoot in the bedrooms. It's a home that's been owned by the same family for more than three decades, but you can certainly tell that it's received plenty of attention in recent years.

The local town of Positano itself isn't large, so most of the attractions are easily reachable on foot, including the golden sands of Spiaggia Grande Positano only 400 metres from the front door. In the wider area, those fond of a hike will appreciate the hilly terrain and walking routes found throughout the Amalfi Coast.

Inside, the decor is on the traditional side, which might not be to everyone's taste – though we think it's a real charmer. Location-wise, you're just a short walk from the centre of beautiful Positano, with its sandy beaches and pastel-hued buildings. Plus, you've got Sorrento and Amalfi nearby for fun-filled day trips out.

From its privileged spot overlooking Positano, this home invites you to enjoy breathtaking views and an abundance of Italian charm. Paid parking is available here, but if you’re not in the mood for driving, there’s a nearby bus stop and water taxis for hopping around the local area. Keen to stretch your legs? Positano can be reached in twenty-five minutes on foot and is well worth a visit. 


Amalfi Blues

You’ll find this home situated on the slopes of Positano town, offering unobstructed views across the Tyrrhenian Sea. It’s a short walk from the beach and 1.5 kilometres from the centre of town, so you won’t need a car for getting around. As there are 250 steps to climb to reach the front door, we wouldn’t recommend this home to those with limited mobility. Inside, the open-plan living space and main bedroom offer access to the private terrace, complete with a table and chairs for alfresco dining.

The Sea Pose

Spread across three levels, this Positano villa has everything from a heated indoor pool and sauna to a lift and housekeeping. Ticking the box on luxury features and convenience, it is ideal for family jaunts to Italy – though the more traditional decor might not be for everyone. An indoor hot tub lives on the lower level, but we recommend the outdoor one with the views from the balcony. Positano is a cliffside village, so it's worth noting the 600 steps from your door into town. There's also 50 steps between the parking area and the villa. But very little will beat the perfectly-positioned outdoor seating and vistas on the horizon.

For a couple on a romantic getaway, this charming apartment offers a dream love nest, with sweeping views over the magnificent scenery of the Amalfi Coast. After a leisurely morning, head off to explore the town. A less beaten path than its neighbouring town of Positano, this is the place to be if you're looking for authentic Italian appeal. If you're seeking out some of the Amalfi Coast's best nature spots, make sure you add a hike on the 'Path of the Gods' to your itinerary, considered by many to be the best hiking trail in the area thanks to sweeping mountain views of the Mediterranean.

After a day of exploring, head home to relax in the outdoor hot tub, before indulging in a laid-back dinner cooked on the barbecue.

Found in the west of Praiano where it lies about twenty minutes away from the bright orange umbrellas of One Fire Beach, this villa has a magnificent view out over the Tyrrhenian Sea.

Climb the steps up towards the villa and find a modern and comfortable home that boasts plenty of natural light, a crisp colour palette, and a beautiful collection of carefully selected tiles for a bit of a colour pop. There’s also a boho feel thanks to the warm, woody furniture and ample windows that keep that connection to the outdoors firmly in place. 

Go from your bedroom into the garden in moments as you escape through the doors – if you’re on the first floor, you’ll have an entire balcony to yourself and we recommend waking up before dawn, at least once, so you can watch the sunset from up there. Spend as much time as possible outdoors, swimming in the private pool, sunbathing in the sunloungers and enjoying snacks and drinks as you admire the view. 

When you’re not taking sunny days easy at home, you can spend them at any one of the beaches you’ll come across as you explore the coast, or find a tucked-away restaurant in Praiano.

With an absolutely breathtaking view of the Tyrrhenian Sea, this ancient villa couldn’t really be more of a complete package if it tried. Not only does waking up to the panoramic horizon inspire a great sense of relaxation, but the villa itself is pretty with its curving arches and many textures. 

Given its age, the home has seen its share of modernisation, but it has always been done in the most loving and sympathetic way to retain the original charm, and that character is certainly still visible. Picture yourself tucked away on the sofa with a good book, or at the dining table – with the doors flung open – as you catch up on the news with your morning cuppa. 

The only thing better than unwinding inside the home would be doing so outside. With plenty of space to sit, or sprawl out on the sunloungers, if you’d like, you can make yourself comfortable as you admire the glittering blue on the horizon. Take a dip in the plunge pool, dine alfresco, and watch the sunset with an evening cocktail. 

As two bedrooms can only be accessed via the garden, it sets large groups up perfectly so you can retain a sense of privacy but come together in the beautiful, and ample, breakout spaces. 

Walk to Marina di Praia beach, explore the beautiful Praiano, and dine out at any of the nearby restaurants when you’re not in the mood to cook.

The kitchen leads straight to an alfresco dining area, and the terrace flows around to the private infinity pool. You’ll even have access to a bar and wine cellar – this villa is a dreamy choice.

Split into three sections, every nook, including the tower, has been utilised to offer spacious living areas and private bedrooms alongside a study and private gym. The interior is what you'd expect from an older home, and though it might not be to everyone's taste, we think it's outshined by the many arched walkways and terraces with their inspiring views. From here, steps lead down to the beach – little ones will need a helping hand getting down – and the heart of Positano lies about one kilometre away.
