A former fishing village, this charming locale is now known for its lemon trees – it’s an idyllic setting for a memorable family holiday.

Drink in the glorious views of the coast and the island of Capri, which serves as a stunning backdrop. Your days here can be spent revelling in the sunny weather, dozing beneath a blue sky, and dining alfresco. When the sun is scorching, you need only stroll down the staircase to reach the beach. Paddle in the shallows, search for seashells and admire the boats sailing by in the distance. However you spend your time here, you’ll be thrilled to have such a pretty place to call home.

The house itself consists of four apartments – making this a great option for groups looking to stretch out and spend quality time together. From here, it’s just a fifteen minute drive into Sorrento and the nearest beaches. The bus stop is just a three-minute walk away and your host is on hand to help organise private transfers.

Sure, you’ll need to climb the spiral staircase to reach the rooftop terrace, but the vistas are worth it. Fancy a splash in the sea? There’s direct access here – just take the stairs down 200 metres. Ideal for extended families or a group of friends, the separate annexe also affords two guests a little extra privacy. Massa Lubrense is only two kilometres away when you fancy some Italian cuisine, and well worth a visit.

Home to the King of Naples in the early 19th century, this breathtaking villa is steeped in history, boasting a whole host of traditional design features that are sure to delight even the most discerning guest. From vaulted ceilings to marble plinths and mosaic floors, this place has surprises around every corner, and we wouldn’t blame you for wanting to soak them all up. 

It's not style over substance here though – with tonnes of amenities at your disposal, there’s plenty to keep you occupied on days you don’t feel like venturing out. There's realistically only one thing we can start with when talking about this home and that's the gorgeous view of the Gulf of Naples that lies out of the main living area's huge window. Thankfully, these French doors open wide and the balcony lets you take in the coastal panorama with the sunlight on your skin. If you're still in need of another vantage point, guests also get access to a communal roof terrace with some seating on which to clink glasses while the sun sets in the background.

Right, enough about the scenery, because the apartment itself deserves some praise. There's an elegant simplicity to the design, with the whitewashed walls working well with the ample amounts of natural light, plus a minimalist kitchen ready and waiting for Italian feasts. We also like the ceramics collection arranged in alcoves in the hallways, which pay homage to the region's culture and heritage in chic fashion.

As you can tell by looking out the window, you don't have to venture far to find the beach – as a matter of fact, Spiaggia di San Montano is only 200 metres away. There are a few bars and restaurants in the local area, but for a wider choice along with some magnificent historic architecture, Sorrento is just a short drive away up the coastline.

Once the residence of the noble d'Avalos family, this 18th-century villa close to the tip of the Amalfi Coast still retains an air of grandeur. Some of this is down to the stately proportions of the large rooms and the archways that connect them up, although the refined interior design also plays a pretty pivotal role – we defy anybody not to be instantly won over by the antique furnishings, ornate chandeliers and smart tiling throughout.

The outside space is just as swoon-worthy. Not only are there remarkable views of the Gulf of Naples and the islands bobbing about in this blanket of azure to be had from the balcony, but there are plenty of ways to pass hot afternoons. The swimming pool will be a welcome sight when the temperature starts to climb and the verdant garden also has lots of shady spots in among the Mediterranean vegetation. There's also a rather chic glass-roofed verandah on which to dine alfresco, too.

When it comes to seeing a little more of this famously picturesque corner of Italy, the centre of Massa Lubrense is only 200 metres away and offers bars, restaurants and shops. The nearest beach is only a kilometre away, plus the historic streets of Sorrento are eight kilometres away.

The outside area presents plenty of characterful places to eat alfresco while taking in the jaw-dropping views out to sea and over the Gulf of Naples dotted with the islands of Capri, Procida and Ischia. Take delight in catching the sunset from the private terrace – or hot tub – with an Aperol Spritz or a glass of prosecco. And enjoy sunny afternoons splashing in the private pool. 

When you can bear to tear yourself away, you'll find Sorrento within easy reach – an 8-kilometre drive away with its narrow, cobbled streets, piazzas and beautiful views over the water to Naples and Mount Vesuvius. Fancy a walk out? The hilltop village of Sant’Agata sui Due Golfi is a twenty-minute walk away and has unparalleled views over the Bay of Naples on one side and the Bay of Salerno on the other.

Inside, you'll have plenty of space to unwind, with two sitting rooms to choose from and a collection of bedrooms with private baths. As for location, Sorrento (15 kilometres), Positano (21 kilometres) and Mount San Costanzo (a thirty-minute hike) are all within easy reach.

With four bedrooms and bathrooms across three levels, there’s space for everyone to spread out here – and for families, there’s the option of sliding open the interconnecting door in the double bedrooms to create one larger, shared space for four. Choosing between the three sun-drenched terraces could be one of the hardest decisions you have to make, or you may prefer to take the twelve steps down to the sea from the lower level terrace, just the spot to relax with a glass of wine.

Perched in Massa Lubrense, the panoramic views are but one of the reasons we fell in love with this villa. The various balconies offer ample outdoor seating, and there are also dining tables made for alfresco dining. With a stone oven, you can put pizza-making skills to the test. And the hot tub, though indoors, still has a view of the lush garden. True, the indoors can't compete with the sweeping landscape, but it's bright and comfortable with plenty of room – even for guests sleeping on the sofa beds.

Situated just 5km from Sorrento town, this villa offers 180-degree views of the sea and Gulf of Naples with Capri Island in the distance. Housed in a residential building, this sleek room offers a convenient hotel alternative for solo travellers or couples, equipped with everything needed for a fuss-free stay. Location-wise, you're in the heart of Sorrento, just a short walk from the beach. You'll also be within easy reach of the port, with restaurants and bars on your doorstep – handy, as this pad doesn't come with a kitchen. The interiors are a little basic for our liking, but it's modern and there's a dedicated workspace. Plus, the freestanding tub is the perfect place to relax after busy days spent travelling.

The wrap-around panoramic terrace at this apartment has stunning views of Marina Grande and the Tyrrhenian Sea. This home is on the third floor with no lift, but your host can help you with your luggage. Inside, the open-plan living space is light and airy, but two people will be sleeping on a sofa bed here at full capacity. The address is fantastic – this apartment is in one of the most exclusive areas on the Sorrento Coast. There are bars and restaurants on your doorstep or explore the city of Sorrento, a short walk or ride away.

This home is ideal for a couple or solo traveller and boasts fun interiors with bright murals, funky furniture and arty decor that make it feel special and unique. We absolutely love the tiled splashback in the kitchen, and the vibrant feature wall in the bedroom – both give the home so much character.

You can start sunny mornings out on your balcony, soaking in views of the sea while you sip on your morning coffee. Come in to cook up some delicious Italian scrambled eggs, and eat together at your kitchen dining table. Head out to explore the restaurants and bars in the town, as well as the stunning beaches located just a short stroll away. When you return, cuddle up in your big cosy bed and get ready to do it all again the next day.

But, when it comes to the bedrooms, you’ll find an elegant space, each boasting an en-suite. The cherry on the cake for us though is the private terrace. It's just the spot for sipping limoncello or fine wine, with glimpses of the sea to tempt you out to explore. And with the beaches, Corso Italia, Piazza Tasso, and the harbour within walking distance, you’ll never be lost for things to do.

Deep blues, sunshiney yellows – how can you not think of the sea when you see these shades? Taking inspiration from Sorrento's nearby harbour and rocky beach, the design of this second-floor apartment is as bright and cheery as the surrounding neighbourhood. There's no doubt it's stylish, but it's also packed with modern amenities that make your stay a dream, from rainfall showers to a kitchen where you'll love rustling up Italian feasts. We adore the quirky touches here, too – our favourite is the stone wall in the shower, which uses the rocky facade of the mountain. 

Did we mention the two sun-kissed balconies? Both offer excellent spots to breathe in the coastal breezes and bask in Sorrento's good weather. Whether you're dining alfresco under the shady parasol or sharing a bottle of Italian wine on the outdoor sofas, this is the place to sit back, relax and fall in love with Sorrento.

Location-wise, you can't do much better. Beaches, eateries and shops are all just steps away. Take a stroll along the postcard-pretty marina in the mornings, followed by lunch at a waterfront restaurant. Do some sightseeing in the historic centre in the afternoons, including a wander around Piazza Tasso and a stop off at the Cattedrale dei Santi Filippo e Giacomo. You're also about an hour or so drive from Naples and Pompeii – perfect for day trips.
