We love the wooden floors and the ceiling beams, but the real star of this home is its location. Staying here, you’re based in a quiet neighbourhood that’s close to the top sights of the city. You need only walk six minutes to reach the Uffizi and ten minutes to the Duomo.

But head on up the spiral staircase to the top-floor lounge, and you'll be blown away by the panoramic views. From up here, the entire city is stretched out before you. Admire the iconic red dome of the Duomo, watch the sunset over the Palazzo Vecchio and spot the spires of the Basilica of Santa Croce. Day or night, the sweeping scenes are some of the best in Florence, and they're entirely your own. Just grab a glass of wine and take it all in from the cosy sofa. Downstairs, there's a quaint dine-in kitchen, well-equipped for rustling up an Italian feast. And when you're ready to venture out and explore the famous sights for yourself, most monuments and museums are only a ten-minute walk away.

In the heart of Florence, this apartment puts you within walking distance of the city's many famous landmarks. Among them are the Duomo (ten minutes on foot), Uffizi Gallery (a fifteen-minute walk) and Ponte Vecchio (also reachable in fifteen minutes) – not to mention a bevvy of shops and restaurants. Due to its ground-floor position, there's little natural light here. But we can overlook that since there's something better – a private courtyard garden. Outdoor space is rare in this postcode, making it the perfect spot for post-sightseeing aperitifs. As the living area has a sofa bed, we recommend this pad for short trips, especially if you're a group of six.

The high ceilings, tall windows and burnt yellow walls lean into the city's architectural heritage, while the minimalist kitchen and sleek bathrooms belong well and truly in the 21st century. But, it's worth noting you'll have to earn those views by climbing five flights of stairs up to the apartment. Still, it's cosy and the building peaks and spires across the river are still visible even from inside the living room. Though the traditional style here might not appeal to everyone, the location is hard to resist. Walk to the Uffizi Gallery to start your love affair with Renaissance art and make a scenic crossing over the Ponte alle Grazie - both are minutes away.
