If you fancy a chill day at home, you have plenty of sun loungers, umbrellas and comfy sofas to relax on. 

We highly recommend you take some time to explore the local area, too. The centre of Marsala is full of great wine bars and restaurants, making it perfect for a bite to eat and a relaxing afternoon sampling some of the local produce. There are also some beautiful beaches here, meaning you have the best of both worlds on your doorstep.

Perfectly positioned on Sicily's western coast, this home makes the most of its lovely location. Not only is there a beach just 300 metres away, but popular spots like Marsala's salt pans, Trapani, Erice and Mazara del Vallo are easily reached by car. While this single-level home lacks some character, we think it'll suit families wanting a fuss-free getaway – especially as there are two sofa beds in the living room ideal for children. We're big fans of the private pool (who wouldn't be?) and the small terrace has nice views, even if you're a bit close to the neighbours.

With at least five wineries just a short drive away – the furthest being just shy of forty minutes – this home is well connected to the wine route and the accomplished cellars along it. With their doors open to the public, you can make a day of hopping from one to another as you sample the wares and choose your favourite to take home. That bottle of Marsala wine, coincidentally, will make the perfect accompaniment to the Mediterranean feast you’ll undoubtedly grill sometime during your stay. 

When you’re not among vineyards, you might escape to another natural wonder – the beach. Drive along the coast to find your favourite among a number of rocky and sandy beaches and once there, you can fully indulge yourself for the day. Swim until the tides and sunshine has left you feeling that particular brand of happy-tired, or catch up on your reading as you lie back under an umbrella and listen to the waves lapping upon the shore. 

Back home you’ll find all the comforts you expect from a holiday home and we encourage you to spend time outdoors under the shaded terrace. Put out a platter of antipasto, uncork the wine, and simply enjoy each other’s company until the sun dips below the horizon. Islands including Trapani and Mothia make great day-trips, as does the fascinating Saline della Laguna. The villa itself is comprised of the main house and a one-bedroom annex – we think this would be perfect for grandparents or a couple seeking a bit more space and privacy. We love the outside space, where you can choose from different terraces to sit out on, stroll through the well-maintained gardens, or doze in a hammock – when you’re not swimming in the private pool, of course.
