Located just outside of Sicily, this three-storey villa is perfect for family getaways thanks to a range of impressive facilities. The centre of town is just two kilometres away, so we’d highly recommend renting a car and taking a tour of its historical sites.

Situated at a vantage point overlooking panoramic scenes of Modica, when you walk out onto the balcony and witness magnificent views of the light forming over the town, you'll be sure to feel energised for the day ahead. That's important as there's a lot to do and see in this stunning region of Sicily. 

Modica itself is a Unesco town with years of history to explore. Wander its wonderful streets and make sure to indulge in lots of chocolate here – the town has a 400-year tradition of Sicilian chocolate making. We recommend checking out the centrepiece of the town, the Duomo di San Giorgio, which is one of the most spectacular sights of Baroque architecture in Sicily. But if days walking around is too much, then why not spend a day at one of the fine beaches in this area? Sampieri is one of the most famous and it's only a twenty-eight-minute drive. No matter what you choose to do during the day, we guarantee you'll end up spending your evenings on this home's balcony watching the lights of Modica twinkle at night while sipping on a glass of something tasty. It’s in the barest of touches that this home shines. The fireplace, for one, where the glass panelling allows a hint of the outside to make itself known even when you’re relaxing indoors. We don’t think there’s a better way to experience the ancient feel of Modica than with a stay at a historic stone home dating back to the 1500s. This home delivers that, along with a few 21st-century touches to keep things feeling luxurious. It’s in the heart of the city, where the narrow streets are home to chi-chi coffee shops and family-run restaurants serving Sicilian cuisine. You’ve even got a view of the ancient church next door from the terraced garden.

Set over stone terraces and patios, the garden is filled with verdant plants and cacti, and feels like a little oasis in the centre of town. Seats and sofas are shaded by olive trees, and there’s dining for the group by strings of fairylights. Then there’s the circular stone hot tub, shimmering like a jewel. 

Inside, it feels like an ode to Sicilian tradition, with pristine white walls and minimalist furniture. The living room is adorned with modern art and has a selection of books for some downtime, and the kitchen is all sleek modernity despite being tucked behind an old stone archway. This architect-renovated home in the centre of Modica is a real find. Sitting behind gates, we were intrigued to see what lay behind. The house is constructed of warm local stone, which contrasts beautifully with the grey paintwork. There are multiple terraces, balconies and courtyards to enjoy – our favourite is the terrace with a lemon tree as its focal point – it's the perfect spot for an alfresco supper. Some of the rooms offer beautiful views of Modica, and there's an exercise room if you fancy clocking up some miles on the treadmill.

Or you could take a stroll around this stunning city with its Baroque buildings, like the Cathedral of St. George. There are restaurants and shops on your doorstep, or if you fancy a day at the beach, the golden sands of the Marina di Modica beach are 15 kilometres away.

You may never want to leave this incredible home, but if you do want to venture out, you’re within easy reach of Sampieri, a tiny fishing village with a beach that’s great for sunbathing. You’re also just a short drive from Scicli, a UNESCO-listed Baroque town where you can explore quaint streets and historic architecture.

This home beautifully conquers indoor-outdoor living, with several tables at your disposal on the cobblestone piazza. With a sloped wooden vault roof and cream brick walls, the bucolic dining table is the perfect place for a continental breakfast of Sicilian citrus fruits and plenty of coffee. Sundowners will taste just as good wherever you enjoy them, but the sofa set beneath the pergola gives you a gorgeous view of the whole house.
