Located on a hilltop in Tuscany, this former farm shed is surrounded by olive groves and rows of vines. While it may not be the most luxurious home in our collection – some areas feel a little dated – with a sunny pool area, a patio for alfresco dining and good road links to tourist hotspots like Pisa and Florence, we still think it has plenty to offer. There are a lot of steps here, as well as a partially open staircase, so it may not be the best option for those with young children or reduced mobility.

The villa is a real beauty. It dates back to the 10th century, with the turret being added in the 16th century. From the main bedroom within the turret, you can enjoy magnificent views of the rolling hills of the Tuscan countryside. Hectares of olive groves surround the home, giving it a tranquil and secluded feel. You’ll find yourself relaxing as soon as you arrive, whether you plan on spending your time swimming in the private pool, sunbathing on the terrace, or dining beneath the pergola. The house is one of six rooms and casitas, and guests have access to a vast, crystalline pool that overlooks the rolling hills and vineyards. The farm produces its own Tuscan olive oil and honey, and there is even a top rated restaurant where you can sample some of the farm’s produce. Days can be spent riding the horses from the stable, exploring the area by E-bike, or taking a cookery class at the restaurant, where you might learn how to make fresh pasta or cantuccini. On more relaxed afternoons, treat yourself to a spa or beauty treatment – there is nothing more serene than a massage in the garden, with a gentle breeze and a soundtrack of cicadas.

You will easily fall into the laidback Italian way of life here, and will come away feeling inspired and rejuvenated.

The villa can be found just outside of the village of Fabbrica, which you can walk to for a coffee in four minutes. From the garden, the view stretches all the way to Volterra – it’s thirty-four minutes away by car and is ideal for day trips. 

Outside, the large paved garden is perfect for dining alfresco, be it for breakfast or for catered dinners. If you’re anything like us, you’ll want to spend much of your day swimming in the salt-water pool or lazing in the sunshine. The pool area is glorious, with spectacular views and enough comfy sun loungers for everyone.
