A few vaporetto stops are also within walking distance, so reaching Marco Polo airport and the islands of Murano, Burano, Torcello, and the Lido is easy. Inside this apartment, you can watch gondolas passing on the canal or take in the vistas over the terracotta rooftops. The decor is traditional, and there’s a lived-in vibe, so this home may not suit minimalists. But if you need to work from home, you’ll be glad to know there are a couple of desks here.

This apartment is situated in an excellent spot for exploring Venice. Piazza San Marco, Rialto Bridge, and Campo San Giovanni e Paolo are all a short walk away. The historic building even has its own bridge over the canal, so you'll only need to open the windows to admire the gondolas passing by. As far as design, it's super stylish. We love the mix of old and new, as well as the patterned wallpaper in the bedrooms. Two guests will sleep on a sofa bed, but in such a central location, that's a decent compromise.

For a quintessential Venice experience, look no further than this recently renovated waterside apartment. Admire the stunning vistas from the Biennale Gardens to St Mark's Square from this special home's terrace – we were lost for words when we visited. You can see so much of Venice without leaving this spot. There's a list of sights as long as your arm – we're talking Bacino San Marco, the Lido, San Servolo, San Lazzaro degli Armeni, and San Giorgio, which hosts Fondazione Cini. Hold on – we have to catch our breath – ok, you can also see the Compagnia della Vela and Giudecca, as well as Punta Della Dogana, the beginning of the Grand Canal and more. 

During the Redentore Festival and New Year's Eve, you can watch the wonderful show of boats and fireworks on the lagoon – this place is truly unique. That's not all of the outdoor space – there's a lovely vine-covered terrace at the back, too.

Inside, you'll find polished wood floors and characterful beams, as well as more of those fabulous views from the living room. We love that the bedroom opens out onto the terrace – perfect for morning coffees. Just note that the bathroom has low ceilings.

This apartment's location is fantastic, too. Nearby, a water taxi stop and the Vaporetto stop "Arsenale" will take you to Piazzale Roma, Santa Lucia train station, Rialto Bridge and Marco Polo Airport. For everyday essentials, there's a well-stocked supermarket, a five-minute walk from this incredible home.

In a city with so many incredible accommodation options, you'll know that you made the right choice from the moment you lay your eyes on the jaw-dropping 360-degree views from the rooftop. With Marco Polo Airport and the Dolomites to the North and every tower and rooftop in Venice immediately surrounding you – it's even better than the photos. We'd encourage at least one early morning wake-up call to take in the changing colours as the sun rises, while a sunset Prosecco goes down a treat at the end of a long day of exploring. Once you've disembarked the water taxi and climbed the stairs to the front door, you'll be greeted by a seamless mix of original features and contemporary design. The interior offers an irresistible blend of exposed beams, ornate antique furniture and intricate wood mosaic flooring alongside a Scandinavian-inspired kitchen and modern artwork. The standout feature is, of course, the two outdoor terraces and accompanying views. There's ample outdoor seating so that you can pick a different spot for each meal. Then, having viewed the city from above, it's time to step out on the streets. You're conveniently close to some of Venice's headline highlights – St. Mark's Basilica and adjoining piazza are just a three-minute walk. At the same time, you're only 275m from Rialto Bridge, plus there's a supermarket and plenty of great restaurants and shops right on your doorstep.

We love the vistas of Venice from this apartment. You can see a large number of sights without leaving home – how amazing is that? From the Bacino San Marco and the Lido, to San Servolo, and San Lazzaro degli Armeni, it's all there waiting to be admired. But that's not all – you can also see San Giorgio, the Punta Della Dogana and the beginning of the Grand Canal and more. We can imagine experiencing the Redentore Festival and New Year's Eve here, watching the wonderful show of boats and fireworks on the lagoon. 

This place is great for entertaining – there are two large sofas to accommodate everyone easily in the living room. The space has traditional terrazzo floors and prints depicting Venetian scenery. Or head to the library and read a book if you want some peace and quiet.

This apartment's location is excellent as well. St Mark's Square is just 500 metres away, so why not explore this iconic sight and then stop off for a coffee and some cake at one of its cafes? There's a water taxi stop 100 metres away, too, for when you want to discover more of this city's gems.

Wake up each morning and rouse yourself from the comfortable beds before opening the balcony doors to sip your coffee looking over the Rio della Canonica, known for the iconic 'Bridge of Sighs'. Plan your day over breakfast at the gleaming glass-topped dining table before heading out to explore this romantic Renaissance city. 

The magnificence of St Mark's Square and its iconic basilica is just a couple of minutes away on foot. Continue towards the Grand Canal and board an eastbound vaporetto heading for the beautiful Biennale Gardens. It’s just a five-minute walk to the Biennale Gardens, an area created by Napoleon at the beginning of the nineteenth century, while St Mark’s Square and the Rialto Bridge are just fifteen minutes on foot. If you prefer to use the water bus, there’s a Vaporetto stop located a few steps away from the apartment, so you can easily reach Piazzale Roma or Murano Island.

Inside this abode, the warm tones from the wood beams contrast nicely with the whitewashed walls. There are three sofas, so there’s plenty of room for everyone to relax. If you don’t fancy eating out, whip up a risotto al nero di sepia in the modern kitchenette. Meanwhile, Castello’s many laid-back wine bars, traditional restaurants and peaceful churches are yours to discover – for central Venice, the location couldn't be much better. The apartment itself has been wonderfully restored, adding elegant, modern touches to the original wood and stonework.

Looking directly out over St. Mark's Basilica and Square and with the water in the background, you wouldn't be blamed for spending a sizeable portion of your trip on the balcony here. Don't snub the interior, though – there are several nooks you can break off into, meaning it's perfect for two couples who might want some alone time. If you're a family, the two single beds, both on the smaller side, are ideal for kids. And when you want to explore, the excellent location means you'll find things to do in all directions.

Even though it was recently renovated, Jewel Tones nevertheless manages to hold on to its character. Upon walking in you’re greeted by an open living space with high ceilings and large windows letting in lots of natural light. The impressive array of both vintage and modern furnishings makes for a vibrant atmosphere, with plenty of room to sit and relax, or to entertain. The two full bathrooms are also a bit of a luxury. And it's located in a quiet alley, so it there's plenty of peace and quiet despite being on the ground floor in San Marco.

A stay in central Venice is given quite the upgrade when you choose this wonderful apartment. Classical decor, quaint art pieces and elegant furniture all come together to give the space that old-fashioned grandeur that makes it such a delight to stay in.
