For somewhere between San Marco and the Rialto bridge, A Call for Calm is remarkably quiet. It’s far from the main thoroughfares, the narrow alleyways that nevertheless carry tens of thousands of tourists to and from St. Mark’s Square every day. It’s also, location aside, a lovely place to stay. The hefty beams stand out, but every part of the design works perfectly together, and while it can only hold three people, Mario looks after a couple of other places in the building, so larger groups can look at potential combinations.

It would be reasonable to expect somewhere in San Marco, right by the Grand Canal, to be pretty busy, with streams of tourists winding their way along the streets outside. We can’t stress how little that matches up to the reality of A Call For Quiet. It’s incredibly peaceful, and a wonderful atmosphere to return to after a long day of walking around the city.


A Call For Quiet

There's a lot to love about this dreamy apartment in the heart of Venice. With plenty of character, an excellent location, and a wonderful outdoor space, it's the perfect place to unwind between your adventures in the Floating City. 

The flat is part of a building dating back to the 16th century, and a lot of its historic charm remains. The antique furniture and wooden beams will make you feel right at home, and the serene bedrooms will help you have a great night's sleep. However, the best bit has to be the garden – a space like this is such a treat in the city centre, This leafy sanctuary is the perfect place to sip your morning espresso or relax with a glass of prosecco at the end of a busy day exploring.

From here, you can walk to the Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari in around five minutes – it's one of Venice's most renowned churches. You can also hop on a water bus at the nearby vaporetto stop, San Toma, to see the city from the canals. And, you can walk over to the famous St Mark's Square and the neighbouring Doge's Palace in around twenty-five minutes. 

Giardino Nascosto

Take in the glimpses of the 14th-century Frari church and the local square from this home’s windows – great for watching the world go by. The accommodation is on the first and second floors, which is great as it maximises those vistas. We should also mention that the third bedroom has a single day bed, and the room is quite compact. Otherwise, this home is perfect for a family or group of friends looking to explore Venice. Location-wise, you’re a short stroll from the Scuola Grande di San Rocco and the Grand Canal is within walking distance as well.

This charming loft space in Venice was once a boatyard – it's been converted to a high standard, with all the necessary amenities for a comfortable stay. We love the elegant decor of this home and its canal views, as well as the private water door giving guests access to a library room. The kitchen is small but has all the necessary electrical appliances – though there are a number of bars and restaurants nearby should you prefer to eat out. There are lots of well-known landmarks within easy walking distance too – Campo Santa Margherita is just two minutes away and the Accademia Bridge is a five-minute walk from the property.




Sail Loft

Situated in the San Polo district, this apartment is just a three-minute stroll from the iconic Rialto Bridge. You'll also find the Rialto Market here, while Piazza San Marco is a ten-minute walk away. Need a break after all that sightseeing? There's a private terrace back home for enjoying a glass of Prosecco after a busy day. Inside, the kitchen is on the small side – there's no oven, but there's a hob and microwave. Also, at full capacity, two people will sleep on a sofa bed in the living room. All in all, though, this is a decent base for exploring Venice.

Just two minutes walk from the Vaporetto stop, simply jump on the water bus to explore famous landmarks and delicious eateries. Set over two floors, this home can comfortably sleep seven people thanks to a sofa bed on the mezzanine level. Inside you’ll find antiques and wooden beams, which only add to the home’s character, as well as two terraces that offer panoramic views over the city’s rooftops. Opera fans will appreciate the building's proximity to the Fenice Theatre – one of the finest opera houses in the world.

Set in a serene spot near the Convent of the Eremite, this Venetian apartment drops you in a prime position for exploring the city. Peaceful yet close to many restaurants, shops, and attractions such as the Ca' Rezzonico Museum of 18th Century Art, you won’t find yourself lost for things to do here. You’ll need to climb the stairs to the first floor to access this fuss-free home, so it may not be the right fit for those with mobility issues. But peek out of the windows at the canal views and you’ll find the climb worth it.

This elegant home is the ideal bolthole for those visiting Venice. It’s in a quiet neighbourhood – Campo Santo Stefano – close to every sight Venice has to offer, but away from the crowds. 

The apartment is a grand family home, with traditional touches like the wood-beamed ceilings. It’s on the fourth floor, and from the windows you can see a pretty skyscape of Venetian rooftops all the way to the Grand Canal. Even more amazingly for Venice, this building has an elevator so those four floors are no trouble at all. 

Take your morning coffee on the balcony, then head out to explore the city. The Vaporetto stop at Santa Maria del Giglio is five minutes from the apartment, so it’s easy to get out on the lagoon. The glorious views from Ponte dell’Accademia can be found just five minutes away, while Piazza San Marco is a ten-minute stroll. Rialto Bridge is nine minutes from the apartment – stroll across it with a gelato for a cheeky touristy moment. 

Calle XXII Marzo, an upmarket avenue of high-end boutiques, is just seven minutes from the apartment. Whether you’re flashing the cash or window shopping, it’s worth a wander. 

However you spend your time in Venice, you’ll be glad to be doing so here. This apartment is comfortable and bright, and in an unbeatable location. 


A Taste Of Venice

This sweet apartment is the perfect place to call home during a whirlwind getaway to the iconic city of Venice. It's part of a recently converted palace in the Campo San Maurizio, just across from the Museum of Music – and the interior is just as fabulous as the location. 

You'll fall in love with the lavish pink velvet sofa – it's ideal for stretching out and sipping cocktails as you plan your itinerary. The kitchen is well-equipped with everything you need to cook up a tasty Italian feast, which you can serve at the chic dining space. Bedrooms don't come much more decadent than these ones, which are decked out with ornate headboards and traditional wooden beams – and they all have their very own ensuite bathrooms too. 

From here, you're just a ten-minute walk away from both the world-famous St Mark's Square and the Basilica di Santa Maria Della Salute, so ticking off your sightseeing list couldn't be easier. The Sant' Angelo water taxi stop is only two minutes away from the apartment if you'd prefer to travel by canal, and there are also countless restaurants nearby when you need to refuel along the way.

This apartment can be found in the chic and central San Marco area of Venice. The city’s main attractions, including the Rialto Bridge, Grand Canal, and St Mark’s Square, are within easy walking distance. We recommend resting your feet by seeing the sights from the water though – you’re in Venice after all. Rialto and Sant’Angelo vaporetto stops are nearby, so you can zip around the canals with ease. The home itself is traditional and fairly grand – you can look forward to Murano chandeliers and terrazzo flooring. With a building this old, you won’t find a lift, so it’s best to pack light. 

The Venetian Oasis

Sitting on the other side of the Grand Canal directly opposite Venezia Santa Lucia, this is a superb starting point from which to explore this unique city. More than that, however, it's an excellent home in its own right, too.

A little more contemporary than many other dwellings you'll find nearby, there's still a taste of tradition in the antique furnishings, the wooden doors that line the main living space and the prettily tiled terrace that lies on the other side. Otherwise, the design is fairly minimalist, with stark white walls and parquet flooring, plus a sleek kitchen that may be a little basic, but will more than suffice for modest meals.

Of course, if cooking isn't on the agenda, there's a good selection of restaurants and bars in the nearby Santa Croce neighbourhood that will keep you fuelled up. Many of the must-see attractions – including the Santa Maria cathedral and the Ca' Pesaro International Gallery of Modern Art – are easily reachable on foot, too.

A Sojourn So Serene

This chic little apartment is a great base in Venice. It’s away from the hustle and bustle of the touristy areas, standing proudly in a salmon-pink palazzetto in upmarket San Samuele. The neighbourhood – once home to Casanova – is home to antique shops and galleries, including the Palazzo Grassi Museum of Modern Art. For a start, the large arched windows are nothing but generous when it comes to natural light and this welcome asset is allowed to flow about the home thanks to the high ceilings and reflective surfaces. In the living area, there's an added bonus in the shape of two Juliet balconies overlooking a quintessentially Venetian square.

Inside, it’s surprisingly modern, which is unusual for Venice, but some of the original structural features have been kept on to tie the flat to the history of its setting.
