This home has probably one of the comfiest sofas – it's made of down and feather, so it's very soft, and you'll sink right into it – we felt like Lord Byron lounging here.

The location is as splendid as this apartment – historic Piazza San Marco and Accademia Bridge are just over a five-minute stroll. Opera lovers will be over the moon to learn that Teatro La Fenice is a mere three-minute saunter. However, the best bit has to be the garden – a space like this is such a treat in the city centre, This leafy sanctuary is the perfect place to sip your morning espresso or relax with a glass of prosecco at the end of a busy day exploring.

From here, you can walk to the Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari in around five minutes – it's one of Venice's most renowned churches. While not the best option for families with young children due to the vintage and delicate furniture, it's a great choice for couples or solo travellers. The central location is the icing on the cake – the views over Santa Maria dei Frari are lovely. The train station is a short walk away and you're right next to a water taxi stop. Plus, there are bars and restaurants nearby.

Situated in the San Polo district, this apartment is just a three-minute stroll from the iconic Rialto Bridge. You'll also find the Rialto Market here, while Piazza San Marco is a ten-minute walk away. Need a break after all that sightseeing? There's a private terrace back home for enjoying a glass of Prosecco after a busy day. Inside, the kitchen is on the small side – there's no oven, but there's a hob and microwave. Also, at full capacity, two people will sleep on a sofa bed in the living room. All in all, though, this is a decent base for exploring Venice.

In the master bedroom, a plush tufted headboard feels palatial beneath a painted medieval motif on the wall and the circular fresco on the ceilings could belong in a museum. 

In terms of location, you’re across the canal from Santa Lucia Train Station and within easy walking distance of Venice’s main sights. It’s a five-minute walk to Basilica S.Maria Gloriosa dei Frari where you can find the works of Titian inside and a further ten minutes takes you to Piazza San Marco and the Grand Canal. Of course, you can always flag down a gondolier or grab a water taxi from the building’s water door.

The city’s main attractions, including the Rialto Bridge, Grand Canal, and St Mark’s Square, are within easy walking distance. We recommend resting your feet by seeing the sights from the water though – you’re in Venice after all. Rialto and Sant’Angelo vaporetto stops are nearby, so you can zip around the canals with ease. The home itself is traditional and fairly grand – you can look forward to Murano chandeliers and terrazzo flooring. With a building this old, you won’t find a lift, so it’s best to pack light.

You’ll need to climb some stairs to reach this first-floor apartment, but once inside you’ll be welcomed in by sleek designs and original beams. The space is practical, with plenty of room for a couple or solo traveller. Though it could be a little brighter, we love the modern kitchen for whipping up negronis and pasta at home. That said, you’ll have your pick of Venice’s authentic eateries on your doorstep.

From here, days can be spent strolling the cobbled streets and ticking off all the major sights. The home lacks a proper living area, so we recommend it for those who want to drop off their bags and get out exploring right away. It's also worth noting that the double sofa bed sleeps up to two guests, although space is limited so we suggest a maximum of three guests.

This includes the magnificent 16th-century four-poster beds in each bedroom, straight from your host’s family castle in Tuscany. Settle in and live like historical royalty – except with the added luxury of modern comforts. When you return home from a day of wandering Venice's winding streets, enjoy a coffee out on the roof terrace and admire the city's famous waterways from above – although the steps are steep, particularly up to the roof, the view is well worth it.

The apartment is a grand family home, with traditional touches like the wood-beamed ceilings. It’s on the fourth floor, and from the windows you can see a pretty skyscape of Venetian rooftops all the way to the Grand Canal. Even more amazingly for Venice, this building has an elevator so those four floors are no trouble at all. 

Take your morning coffee on the balcony, then head out to explore the city. The Vaporetto stop at Santa Maria del Giglio is five minutes from the apartment, so it’s easy to get out on the lagoon. The glorious views from Ponte dell’Accademia can be found just five minutes away, while Piazza San Marco is a ten-minute stroll. Rialto Bridge is nine minutes from the apartment – stroll across it with a gelato for a cheeky touristy moment. 

Calle XXII Marzo, an upmarket avenue of high-end boutiques, is just seven minutes from the apartment. Whether you’re flashing the cash or window shopping, it’s worth a wander. 

However you spend your time in Venice, you’ll be glad to be doing so here. This apartment is comfortable and bright, and in an unbeatable location.

Experience the best of the Floating City from this gorgeous canalside Cannaregio apartment. Impeccably decorated in typically Venetian style, expect stunning period features, elegant furnishings and the occasional antique piece within its 16th-century walls.

In addition to the calming forest green colour scheme and tall windows that invite plenty of natural light in, we particularly loved the ingenious secret door leading to the en suite bathroom.

Your third-floor vantage point offers views over a buzzing piazza and imposing clock tower to one side and an elevated vantage point over a canal to the other. Venice is unusual in that there's no car traffic here. Instead, you can open up the windows and take in the many traditional sounds of the city, including church bells, bustling street markets, and gondoliers singing as they cruise by.

The location is ideal – not even five minutes from Rialto bridge, so you won't have to lug your bags too far, while the likes of St Mark's Square and the characterful streets of the Jewish Quarter are approximately ten minutes on foot.

When you're not out exploring, your host has provided some stunning coffee table books so you can appreciate the city through a photographer's lens and perhaps pick up a few pointers to elevate your usual holiday snaps.

This apartment is situated in an excellent spot for exploring Venice. Piazza San Marco, Rialto Bridge, and Campo San Giovanni e Paolo are all a short walk away. The historic building even has its own bridge over the canal, so you'll only need to open the windows to admire the gondolas passing by. As far as design, it's super stylish. We love the mix of old and new, as well as the patterned wallpaper in the bedrooms. Two guests will sleep on a sofa bed, but in such a central location, that's a decent compromise.

Surrounded by the vintage boutiques, independent shops and low-key eateries of Vencine’s Dorsoduro district, this apartment offers a relaxing retreat in the heart of Venice. Spread over three levels, there’s plenty of space here, and the plush furnishings give the place a homely feel. we love the rooftop terrace, which affords views over the city’s architectural masterpieces. If you’re in town for work or just need to keep on top of emails, the cosy office will no doubt come in handy. The top floor features a luxurious suite, ideal for a couple or small family who need their own space – the sofa turns into a sofa bed for a little one who needs to sleep close to their parents.

When you want to explore further – to Venice Lido Beach, for example – the transport hub of Piazzale Roma is a seven-minute walk away.
